Cipriano de Rore’s “Amor ben mi credevo”

Another video of the project Early Music Sources comprises the musical analysis of Cipriano de Rore’s madrigal Amor ben mi credevo.

This is a fine example of musical analysis of music and text and its intrinsic relation to the musical setting. An exam of the poem is necessary in order to understand how the music works. Although this approach might seem to basic and (first-class lesson) to many researchers in advanced studies, in my opinion, it is a very useful tool for introducing non-specialized students to the world of madrigalian composition.
