Paper at 39th APEAA Meeting

No próximo dia 26 de Abril estarei a apresentar uma comunicação no 39.º Encontro da Associação Portuguesa para Estudos Anglo-Americanos, que se realiza na Universidade de Évora de 26 a 28 de Abril.

A minha comunicação intitula-se “Manuel de Serpa da Silva: Da Horta a Massachusetts, à Indústria baleeira e a construção de órgãos”, focando o percurso biográfico e profissional de um marceneiro açoriano da segunda metade do século XIX que emigrou para os Estados Unidos da América, regressando mais tarde à terra-natal onde montou uma oficina de construção de órgãos.

Next April 26th I’ll be reading a paper at the 39th Conference of the Portuguese Association for Anglo-American Studies, that is taking place at the University of Évora from April 26th to 28th.

My paper titled “Manuel de Serpa da Silva: From Horta to Massachusetts, to the Whaling industry and Organ building” focusing the biographical and professional path of an Azorean cabinetmaker of the second half of the nineteenth century that emigrated to the United States of America, later returning to his home-village where he founded an organ-building workshop.
