Music editions performed by Grupo Vocal Olisipo at Música em S. Roque 2023

Several music editions I prepared for Grupo Vocal Olisipo, dir. Armando Possante, will be performed in this year’s edition of the sacred music festival Música em São Roque.

The Festival Música em São Roque is a yearly event promoted by the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa that usually happens during the last weeks of October and first weeks of November with concerts of sacred music in the former Jesuit Church of São Roque and other churches of down-town Lisbon.

For this year’s edition, that will take place from 13 October to 10 November, I prepared several editions of sacred vocal polyphony that will be performed by Grupo Vocal Olisipo, in another collaboration with the group’s director Armando Possante. The concert will take place on 29 October at the Church of the Convent of S. Pedro de Alcântara.

Of the programme In Tenebris that will be presented by Grupo Vocal Olisipo, I prepared the editions of the psalm De profundis by António Pinheiro, the five-voice setting of Jesu Redemptor, and the four-voice responsory Memento mei, Deus by Filipe de Magalhães, the five-voice motet Domine, tu mihi lavas pedes? by Francisco Martins, and the responsory Libera me, Domine by João Gomes.
