Meeting about Art and Heritage in S. Jorge

I helped organising last April 21st-22nd the third edition of the Meeting “Art & Heritage” 2018, that took place in S. Jorge Island (Azores). As in the former two editions, this year we talked about Art History and Conservation-Restoration of artworks and the best practices in these matters.

On the 21st we organised two panels of conferences in a very interesting palace as may be seen in the photos. I was moderating the two panels which is a position I’m not very familiar with. I certainly prefer the presenter profile. Besides the more “academic” part of the event there were also Azorean wine and cheese tasting as also as local pastries. We printed an abstract book that can be downloaded HERE (in Portuguese).

In the afternoon of the 22nd the conference participants and other public participated in an informal visit to the Conservation-Restoration atelier and the Church of Santa Bárbara, in the village of Manadas.

In the evening I presented the notes for the final recital of organ and cello in the Church of St Catherine in Calheta. The concert programme was made mostly of works by Portuguese (Carlos Seixas) and Italian (Scarlatti, Stradella, Gemininani) composers which, as one can hear in the resume video sounded very well.
